I posted of prose and beauty and the deeper meaning behind Ronan's Lyrics, the beauty in the Thundersound of Marks engine of noise... Only one Tribute page remains dear to me. I'm glad this place on Tribe exists. Here is the old site:

http://vnvnation-tribute.tk/

I also wrote this, which can be found there... Under Text

Forget your Fear

We live in an age where war could destroy all life on the planet a thousand times over again. That threat was more deadly in the 1980's. Many of us grew up enjoying the synth accompaniment in the music of that decade. Enjoying carefree days, living life to it's fullest... Though at night we entertained the fear that come morning the world would be vaporized. That threat has lessened greatly, but still remains.
Electronic music though not born in the 1980's, flourished there. Such music led to the Synth Pop, Industrial, Electronica and many other genres we know today. VNV Nation falls within self proclaimed "Future Pop". Ideology defined by a belief in a future without fear, without strife and without the harbinger call of annihilation rising with every morning.
Futurism is the belief the future holds the meanings of life of perfection in achievements. It is apt that VNV Nation chose "Future Perfect" as the title of their current album. Futurism in art ennobled the force of industry, the future of the machine. The power of industrial evolution. The balance of forward motion and modern age. Creation. Mark Jackson and Ronan Harris fill their music with all these aspects. This energy can be felt when listening to their CDs. Live, it is an all consuming force.
Emotion. Thundering sound. Music. These are given. Then lyrics supersede the mundane. Born are the foundations of empires, mythos of the unrelenting, the passage of time, intimacy of the most personal journey. Worlds live and die in a breath. Is it not so foreign to see tears fall, from men and women alike welcoming every song under the flood of emotion.
VNV Nation will be to whoever it meets a very individual experience. From the first song I encountered I have never tired... I have never been so moved, time and time again. Lost in the dance, gazing into the unknown. Welcoming tomorrow without fear.
The crowd was 95% goths, and 100% up for a good time. I was so glad to have gone...one of the best gigs this year.

Oh my god!!! The first SF concert last night fucking kicked ASS!!! I went with a buch of others who had never been to a VNV concert and they were all supprised.. My ONLY gripe was that they didn't play Beloved, however Ronan did say that if you didn't hear something you would like to hear come back the other night. He also said that they were playing a slightly different lineup for each concert. Another thing I found interesting was that they had two guys on keyboards. One of them was Soman who opened up the evening. After Soman came Imperative Reaction who were also pretty good.

I managed to get a few reactions out of Ronan which was fun. All evening he was bagging on his youth and the song Stairway to Heaven and how when it would be played at school dances the ladies lavatory would suddenly have a very increased capacity. So he was talking about what songs we wanted to hear so of course I shouted out "Stairway" which got a chuckle. Would be funny if others at other concerts requested the same... :-D It is oh so tempting to go to the Salt Lake show....

Songs... I know many of ya'll would like to know about what songs were played... Let's see if I can recall. The opened with the intro to Matter + Form and then they went into Chrome, after that it was a blur of dancing and fun! They played Joy, Standing, Solidarity, Arena (I think), Entropy, Endless Skies, Homeward, Epicenter, Legion, Darkangel. I'm sure I forgot a few.

I'll post more after tonight's concert. :-D

Wanted to see if anyone had some favorite lyrics from one of our favorite bands. I don't know why but I find myself very emotionaly connected to a lot of their lyrics and find myself quoting them frequently.

"Why do I love when I still feel pain ? When does it end ? When is my work done ? Why do I fight ? and why do I Feel ? that I carry a sword through a battlefield" - dont' remember off hand

"By our actions we betray the instincts in our race
by our blindness and stupidity
we kill everything
we kill everything" - Carbon

"In my naivety I ran
I fell and lost my way
Somehow I always end up falling over me" - Holding On

"I'm not alone, I'm not Afraid, I'm not Unhappy" - Fearless

and Now, thanks to their new album....
"Let there be, Let there always be, Never-ending Light" - Perpetual

I think I'll stop there. But I'd love to hear what others have to say.
