Long ago... I stood in the Yahoo group called Nationhood. I posted of prose and beauty and the deeper meaning behind Ronan's Lyrics, the beauty in the Thundersound of Marks engine of noise... Only one Tribute page remains dear to me. I'm glad this place on Tribe exists. Here is the old site:

Forget your Fear
We live in an age where war could destroy all life on the planet a thousand times over again. That threat was more deadly in the 1980's. Many of us grew up enjoying the synth accompaniment in the music of that decade. Enjoying carefree days, living life to it's fullest... Though at night we entertained the fear that come morning the world would be vaporized. That threat has lessened greatly, but still remains.
Electronic music though not born in the 1980's, flourished there. Such music led to the Synth Pop, Industrial, Electronica and many other genres we know today. VNV Nation falls within self proclaimed "Future Pop". Ideology defined by a belief in a future without fear, without strife and without the harbinger call of annihilation rising with every morning.
Futurism is the belief the future holds the meanings of life of perfection in achievements. It is apt that VNV Nation chose "Future Perfect" as the title of their current album. Futurism in art ennobled the force of industry, the future of the machine. The power of industrial evolution. The balance of forward motion and modern age. Creation. Mark Jackson and Ronan Harris fill their music with all these aspects. This energy can be felt when listening to their CDs. Live, it is an all consuming force.
Emotion. Thundering sound. Music. These are given. Then lyrics supersede the mundane. Born are the foundations of empires, mythos of the unrelenting, the passage of time, intimacy of the most personal journey. Worlds live and die in a breath. Is it not so foreign to see tears fall, from men and women alike welcoming every song under the flood of emotion.
VNV Nation will be to whoever it meets a very individual experience. From the first song I encountered I have never tired... I have never been so moved, time and time again. Lost in the dance, gazing into the unknown. Welcoming tomorrow without fear.
